    Breathtaking Photos on an N90

Long time blogging pal Martin Geddes has taken some of the most breathtaking photos I have seen to date with his N90.

The blog post he also authored really details exactly how the N90 can be used, not simply as a camera or as a phone but as a convergence device.

Mobility Today Full Review on The N90

Perhaps the most exhaustive review on the N90 to date, Jack Cook, has taken the N90 apart feature by feature and given us all some amazing insight about the device, his personal experience and more.

Given Jack's former role in life, as school principal, and his "retiree" status, he has clearly explained that this phone is for more than just gadget freaks, and explained in extremely clear terms just what the N90 is capable of being for many different user types. All I can say is he must have had many a lucky student as I'm sure he applied the same level of care then, as he does with his reviews.

Plus, his photos are very cool. Check out his review here.

    Asterisk King Digs The N90

Mark Spencer the Rock Star like leader of open source Voice over IP PBX replacement Asterisk seems to be enthralled by the N90, at least according to Tom Keating, a self confessed gadget junkie.

Oliver Starr's Update on the N90

Olver has a new blog home and has really taken to his N90.

Read his update and all the kind things he has to say over on MobHappy.

Needless to say we're thrilled for Oliver with both his new blog home and his comments.

    Dave's PDA on The N90

Dave's PDA has a really well thought through review of the N90. It's a good read and provides a alot of great points to consider who the N90 is right for.

    Going Mobile With IM

Stuart is really getting into the N90. He's found a great app for staying connected. It's a mobile Instant Messaging application that ties together the major IM services and lets you have them all on your phone.

Read his post about Agile Messenger on his relaunched Unbound Spiral blog.

    LefeBlogging getting Hot

http://www.nnyman.com/personal/2006/01/10/lifeblogging-from-the-n90/Niko and Stuart both seem to be catching on to the idea of how powerful the Nokia LifeBlog application can be.

It works both on the N90 and installs on your PC.

    Rafat Ali on The N90

Moconews.com's editor and all around content hound, the man with more inside scoops about all things content has been traveling the world with his N90. His views on what the N90 can do are right on.

Raf nails it with this statement, "Anyway, the whole point of this rambling post: make it easy for mobile users to switch or choose their handsets (GSM-SIM-based makes that possible), and yes, they’ll do things with it that no amount of marketing can achieve. Free the consumer, and see mobile content usage rise…."

Yahoo Go Mobile is N90/N70 Compatible

Check out Christian Lindholm's post about the new Yahoo Go Mobile platform and how it works with the N90.

Obviously you need a data plan to make this all work. Rafat Ali has some early observations too.

MobileWhack Picks N90 As The Best in 2005

MobileWhack, one of the better blogs to keep an eye on for all things Mobile, has previously heaped high praise on the N90.

Today, in their Best of 2005 recap they selected the Nokia Nseries N90 as the best mobile phone for the year.

I'm sure our friends at Nokia say "kitos" which is thank you in Finnish.

    Geek.Com's N90 Review

Matt Miller has been disecting and examining the Nokia N90 in a manner that would make my ninth grade biology teacher proud.

His exhaustive, leave no stone unturned, no holds barred review of the N90 is now out and it's epic like. It's also fair, balanced and provides solid insight regarding just who the multi-media device is for, and who it's not for.

Rob Greenlee On The Other Uses For The N90

While many have been focusing on the photo and video capabilities of the N90, Web Talk Guy and online content expert Rob Greenlee takes a different look at the N90, and explains how it's also a great lisetening device for Podcasts and Webcasts in this post.

In his post he refers to a new piece of software, Mobilcast from Melodeo that makes it easy to download Podcasts to your Nseries phones and how it works with the Cingular's MediaNet service here in the USA.

Cell Watch Comments and Asks For A N90

We wish we had enough phones to go around for everyone, but we're working on a review recycling program. This won't go into play until we start seeing the review units back, inspect them, make sure no personal info remains and that they are in the kind of condition to send out again.

We're also glad to see that the author sees the value of a program like this, versus traditional media.

So if you're interested in being put on the "next wave" review list please send a note to us at n90@comunicano.com will do the trick!

Matt Muses About Flickr, Splash and Uses His N90 To Show Us His Desk

Cubical culture for sure...Thanks Matt, especially for taking taking the N90 to Mobius. We look forward to more photos and other accounts from the event via the N90.

    A Photographic First - A Magazine Cover by N90

This may be magazine industry first.

A magazine cover photo shot with a camera from a mobile phone!

Finland based digital camera magazine Pikseli has used a photo on their frontage that was taken with the Nokia N90 cameraphone.

    News via About-Nokia.com

    Symbian France On the N90

The author of Symbia France, Greg Taieb pinged me to let me know he's posted a lengthy review (in French) about the N90.

This is citizen journalism at it's finest. Why? Because he's not in the program and yet he's taken the time to point out the pros and cons of the N90 and enables others to understand what the phone offers and if it's right for them.

    Tre Bien, Gregory, Tre Bien!

Gizmodo Links To The i4U Post About N90 vBlogs

Three of my personal favorites sites as a gadget buyer are TechDirt, Engadgethttp://www.engadget.com/ and Gizmodo. This morining I was really happy to see how the UK version of Gizmodo linked over to I4U which posted the reggae vBlog from over the weekend with the N90.

I guess i better warn the server folks at Verio too. Gizmodo is one heavily visited web site and has been known to blow out some servers just like the other two have done before.

Oliver Starr Puts The N90 Camera Through It's Paces

The Mobile Technology Weblog's Oliver Starr is out and about taking photos with the N90.

    One of his comments,

Now, I'm not a guy that would carry a camera by itself, so this is pretty amazing for me as it turned out, I really needed a camera the day I paid a visit to this building in San Diego. We're considering leasing this to operate an incubator for new ventures so getting some decent images was part of my mission. The artsy stuff...well, we all want to be artists, right? That's why there's flickr...

Since Oliver's using flickr he can also use the Nokia Lifeblog software to post the photos right from the N90 as well if he wants to.

Oliver also points out that he's not a real photographer:

What's particularly impressive about these images in my opinion is how well the phone does in marginal light. No external lighting was used for any shot. The clarity is also quite good and any blurrieness is likely the fault of the unskilled clod behind the lens.
    .

Feel free to comment on Oliver's photographic skills here or on his blog, or both!

The N90--New Species or New Journalism

Eamonn, a Irishman based in Munich who has a day job with a leading multi-language publishing group asks the question if the N90 is new species of mobile device vs. just simply a phone.

The N90 is a mobile device that is ideally suited for those type of new era journalists, especially those who are planning on adding, or already are embedding audio and video in their content as Eamonn also pointed out.

Eamonn's is one more example of traditional journalists who are also bloggers. They end their day job and blog at night. Some write blogs as part of their job for the media outlet so as PR/BR professioanls we're seeing that line being blurred each week as blogging takes on a broader role in the media space and also enables journalists to cover more stories they learn about on a daily, not monthly basis. This approach keeps their "story flow" up and allows them to maximize their sources in case the big story comes their way. It's called working the news source and is an essential part of the job.

Since Eamonn is also aligned with a large publishing group Spotlight Verlag as Content Manager we've passed his request on to our Nokia contact to forward to the proper folks who are working with the traditional media.

Win an N90--Blog Les Blogs II

If you are covering, attending or just blogging from afar during Les Blogs II which is going on in Paris (oh how I wish I was there but I just got back from Austria and France last Wednesday) you may want to keep tabs on the LesBlog blog.

Loic Le Meur reports that there now will be a contest where the lucky winner receives an N90 cortesy of Nokia. While the rules are being determined the concept is worth keeping an eye on and entering.

It reads like others want to see Nokia give away some 400 N90's...Well, you can't blame the author for trying, but hopefully he enter's Loic's Les Blogs' Contest.

Um, Please No-But It's A Good Problem To Have

Edmund in Singapore on BLOGasia referneces our server issues, which in marketing parlence conotes a good problem to have.

But really, I hope we don't blow out this server again...but if we do, there's more capacity available. So bring it on :-)

(Just not all at once please)

    Andy

    Simplification Speculates on the N70

We can only confirm that the next phone we'll be working with is the N70 and Simplification authors some comments and a bit of speculation based on on Om Malik's review. ">Simplification's post heats up the fire and buzz we feel will be surrounding the N70.

As Om Malik of GigaOm.com pointed out in his review ,the N70 is something very special indeed. Size, weight, optics, functionality. It's a different phone than the N90 but at the same time does a lot of the same things.

Loic and Rodrigo vBlog Prep @ Les Blogs

Two of the world's fleading authorities on both blogs and vBloging gear up for Les Blogs II in Paris.

Notice that Loic is using his N90, but what's Rodrigo totting around?

JA..The N90 Is So Cool Mon!

A Lisbon based English language blogger in the program used his N90 to capture a reggae band as part of his review process. We're seeing lots of vBlogging going on and figure more will be forthcoming. Here's the additions from Lisbon.

But there is more to the N90's optical abilities with the Carl Zeiss 2.0 megapixel lens. Jonathan Greene snaped this photo in New Jersey.

    Precious Moments Indeed

Jonathan Greene, who is a ranking ad exec on Intel's Interactive account at a leading NY agency, has really gotten a good grasp on one of the key benefits to having an N90 handy. It's those precious, tender moments we all want to remember for years to come.

Check out his vBlog post about his daughter Hannah.

Corante Comments On The N90, The Program and Clogger

Stowe Boyd makes some very strong points in his post, both about the N90, but also about the Nokia Blogger Relations Program.

His points are spot on, and I have commented more deeply on his blog, as that's where they belong.

Gogelmogel Comments and Mentions A Cool Application

Gogelmogel, a site about music and technology, references the N90 Blogger Relations Blog and then refers us to what looks like a very interesting Bluetooth messenger application.

    Om Malik on the N70

Om Malik, of GigaOm (and Business 2.0 fame) has had the chane to play with the N70 for a few days as have I. Needless to say Om is one super critical dude of technology so his comments are always taken to heart.

Check out his review of the N70 here.

We're planning on building the N70 site rather soon but we have sent a few N70's out to get some initial feed back and insight about what to expect. The bulk of the phone are enroute from Helsinki to us, so sometime in Mid December the members of the Blogger Relations Communications Program will begin seeing them just in time for the Holidays.

Continue reading "Om Malik on the N70" »

Rodrigo Ponders What Plan to Get for His N90

Uber vBlogger Rodrigo A Sepulveda Schulz now armed with an N90 ponders which carrier and plan he should sign up for to maximize his use and minimize his costs to use his new N90.

Given the recent spat in France over anti-trust based price fixing of costs for planns agreed to between the three carriers I'd say he's got some serious options to decide on.

N90 Selling, Supplies Tight, Demand High

There is a report that the sales of the N90 have been brisk since hitting the US shores just two weeks or so ago.

    Jon Arnold on the N90

Jon Arnold, former Telecom Analyst at Frost and Sullivan, has jumped in with some initial observations of the N90 in his initial post. As an analyst Jon takes things in a very methodical manner. His initial enthusiasm aside, knowing Jon's past tells us that his review may end up being one of the most detailed once he's back from his trip.

We also appreciate his kind words about the blogger relations effort underway.

    CellVideo Phone on N90

CellVideoPhone, says the N90 is great for shooting video as it makes for VHS quality playback.

We thank GoggleBlogger for his or her kind words.

Christian Lindholm on N90 and Podcasting

Former Nokia executive and now Yahoo Mobile leader Christian Lindholm has an account of how it is now possible to use the N90 for podcasting and have it work with the Apple iPod and Apple's iTunes.

I've offered to Christian the opportunity to share his podcasts here with the N90 blogger community and look forward to his reply.

As a matter of fact, if you're shooting vBlogs or recording podcasts send us a comment in the Podcast section so the rest of the blogosphere can see and hear what you've done.

We only request that the content be accurately portrayed in its descriptions and that adult oriented content be ommitted, so please respect that one request as anyone can find the comments.

Hat Tip to Loic for this one.

Gadgets and More proclaims that the N90 is a must have for the "trusted Geeks arsenal for the blogging" world.

PalmSolo's Thoughts on Our Outreach Efforts

It's rewarding when well thinking people come to your defense on an unsolicited basis as Matt Miller, the PalmSolo blogger, has in this post.

Not that we need any defense, but its very heartwarming to hear such pure thoughts about the program that are so accurate and spot on.

Alec Saunders on the N90 Blog

In all fairness, Alec is both a friend and client. His firm iotum brings the concept of the Relevance Engine to telecomunications via the first Presence based technology that can work with any phone, including your mobile phone.

Alec also knows his share of how to bring a product to market. In a previous life he launched Internet Explorer, the most used Internet browser in the world for Microsoft. He was also one of the "beta" bloggers I turned to to review not only the N90, but also ran by him the concept of what we're doing to work with the blogging community for a sanity check.

We appreciate his support and kind words.

Olver Starr's Two Blogs on the N90

It seems Oliver has more than one blog site to post his experiences with the N90. In Quantum Convergence he reposts his initial review that was commented within the Mobile Weblog.

Once again we appreciate the kind words.

Stuart Bruce on The N90 Blog

It seems peers in the Public Relations industry, espcially those outside the USA, are picking up on how groundbreaking Nokia's efforts are on almost a daily basis.

This time, Stuart Bruce of Bruce Marshall Associates, one of the largest technology shops in the North of England, found time to make us blush. Being called a "genius" is high priase. But the real geniuses are the team inside Nokia Global Communications who had the foresight to want to take on a program like this and were willing to allow us to do what we do best, get outside the box and develop a program that will meet the brand objectives for promotion and growth, while at the same time capturing the imagination and belief of the bloggers in the mobile phone and multimedia space.

Stuart, we thank you for you kind words.

    PalmSolo's Latest N90 Observations

PalmSolo's Matt Miller has been busy putting his N90 through its paces. His most recent post really zeroes in on the camera and Bluetooth capabilities, but he also talks about applications that work rather well on the N90.

Matt's comments about easy, quality and being better than other phones out there also speaks to the heart of the personality of the N90.

Ross Mayfield Caught Testing His N90

Gotcha....Found taking a test shot and posted to Flickr by Ross Mayfield, Wiki master and one of the champions of Socialtext.

Ross, who is in the Blogger Relations Program, has also listed the N90 blog on his Ross Mayfield Weblog del.icio.us linkorama for which we say thanks for the traffic!

The Gadgets Weblog N90 Review Part One

The Gadget's Weblog has their initial review, revealing pros and cons about the blogger's personal experience and linking to some other blog posts from others in the Nokia Blogger Relations Program.

In the post the author comments about the lack of a virbrate mode. Pal Alec Saunders and I both wondered about that too and my questioning of the Nokia folks revealed two highly plausable answers:

    1. There is so much inside the case now something had to go and the vibrator was it, that and the smaller power plug port.

    2. Even more logical in my mind is the fact that the N90 is a video and still camera too. Imagine the vibrator going off when your recording that special moment. Hands shake enough, they don't need help.
